Mother Goose and her Blue Star Mothers friends were whole-heartedly proud to participate in an event to support the troops in Afghanistan last week.
An organization called Pizzas4Patriots worked together with worldwide delivery logistics experts, DHL Express, to deliver 30,000 pizzas to our brave soldiers, sailors, airmen and women who are in harm’s way. Yes, thanks to this GREAT project, our men and women will be eating pizza on the 4th of July.
30,000 pizzas! Delivered to one of the hottest places on the planet! YES, it can be done! Thanks DHL! Thanks Pizzas4Patriots! Thanks Blue Star Mothers! But especially thanks to all of our sons, daughter, husbands and wives, friends and family who have sacrificed their time for the sake of freedom.
Be safe over there, and hurry home!

Joyce Carrasco, president of our Blue Star Mothers group, praying with other parents of servicemen and women.
Oh, and here’s just a little footnote:
The REAL pizzas were loaded during the night whilst the temperatures were cooler than 95 degrees, so this was a staged demonstration for media and promotion purposes… Mother Goose is all in favor of publicity for pizza and supporting the troops! I know those guys and gals are going to have a GRAND pizza party all over Afghanistan.
Love, Mother Goose
P.S. Happy 4th of July! Be safe — drink lots of water!

Amazed and humbled at the thoughtfulness, and effort, of your community to help those in harm’s way find a great reason to smile. Well done good and faithful servants. Well done.

Thanks, Jeff. The man who started Pizzas4Patriots spoke about how people, including his wife, said this could never be done. Well, I guess they were all wrong and he was right! God bless America.

What a wonderful commitment. And the perfect time to express gratitude to our service personnel! Debra

Debra, we were expecting to help load the trucks, but that was already done overnight and the pizzas were already winging their way over the waves. But, you know what, even though it was all staged for publicity, that’s OK! Delivering some pizza to our brave trooops is a great way to promote the America way of life and show them we care and miss them. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great holiday!

That is a *lot* of pizzas and hopefully a few kids far away from home will be munching on a pizza very soon. Thanks for helping out!

Eric, imagine the logistics of building and shipping 30,000 pizzas from Chicago to various points in Afghanistan! Of course, they were ice-packed and then re-iced upon arrival. I’m excited to see some pictures of the guys and gals on the front, enjoying some love from home. Thanks for stopping by!

Dianna, I can’t wait til all of the troops come home from the middle east and eat pizza with their families. 🙂
