Joe’s Birthday Gets a Little Crazy

The fourth son of Mother Goose turned 14 yesterday, and we celebrated BIG TIME. We just love parties, and it’s always no holds barred, all out fun and games, crazy times at any of Mother Goose’s celebrations. This one was no exception, for sure.

The party started out nice enough with a grand casserole of mostociolli. Joe’s special request which I was happy to oblige. Here’s the empty dish to prove that everybody liked it a lot.

Sorry, we ate it all....

Joe received many presents for his birthday, and we baked a yummy cake and decorated it.

And then we lit the candles and sang “Happy Birthday” to Joe. Of course, the birthday cake turned into a raging fire ball at this point, and Mother Goose considered calling 9-1-1.

Actually nobody was in harm’s way at any time during this birthday party, but we were reminded of Ben’s birthday fire ball, just a couple months ago.

After we got the fireball extinguished, Joe opened his presents. We were suddenly startled by the sound of an intruder in the backyard. We live in a borderline neighborhood, very near the border of Chicago’s infamous west side. Maybe gangsters were roaming through the back of our lot! But Joe grabbed his new Marlin Cowboy BB gun and ran outside to protect us from the marauders.

And then AnnaRose grabbed the gun and got a shot off as well.

When the smoke finally cleared, we all ran to the back of the yard to see what the kids had shot.

Holy Cow! The kids had bagged their first buck. And luckily my dear sister was there to pick it up and comfort the poor deer in its last moments. You just never know what might happen at a Mother Goose birthday party!

You were obviously having too much fun! Love the pictures…and the fireballs are really quite spectacular. Fourteen! Joe has so many adventures ahead of him, doesn’t he! And I think Mother Goose does, too! 🙂 Debra
