Wally and Dee and the Pontiac Grand Prix

In the wake of my recent car accident, I have decided that life is good and God still loves me. Even if I rear-ended an XTerra on a rainy night, got a ticket to appear in Cook County Court and totaled the family truckster, I am still lovable. I’d like to extend a huge THANK YOU to State Farm insurance for handling our claim in an exemplary manner. Every single person I talked to there about my accident and claim was so helpful — they answered my questions efficiently, politely and even in a friendly manner. Maybe some people think it’s cute to have car insurance with Gecko lizards, but I’m staying with State Farm forever.

Yes, they totaled the Dodge Durango — it doesn’t take much to total a car these days, I’ve been told. And I’m really OK with that! State Farm issued us a check for a fair value yesterday morning. I quickly deposited it to my checking account — thought about doing my Christmas shopping in Hawaii with my sissy poo… But then before the clock could chime midnight for Cinderella at the ball, I was writing a check for the same amount to a sweet retired couple who had been married for 55+ years, and were now selling their 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Wally and Dee. So wonderfully gracious and kind to us — I wanted to just spend the rest of the day at their dining room table chatting about family stuff and life in general. Wally had kept every record of every maintenance procedure ever performed on the car, and was happy to show them all to us. Dee got out the family pictures, and we admired all of their grown children and growing grandchildren and the neighbors next door who were as close as family.

Car sale transactions can be blessed times — we really found a sweet ride at a good price. Wally took very good care of that car, and I promised him that I’d take very good care of it as well.

The New Wheels!

P.S. And I’d like to thank Mark for being so very gracious about these circumstances.

Such a sweet ride! But now I’m thinking the shopping trip to Hawaii would have been better!

It looks as good as new… You lucky lady. You should send your Sate Farm agent a link to this post. Very sweet of you to thank them this way… 🙂
