Adventure in Charleston

Mother Goose and her two sailor sons were reunited last weekend in a grand adventure. Indeed the whole family was blessed to spend time with Adam and Erik who are currently stationed in Goose Creek, South Carolina.  Isn’t that just a perfect name for a town?  Mother Goose would love to live there someday!

The guys don’t have to wear their uniforms on the weekends unless they are working so here they are in regular clothes!

We had a wonderful time playing in the hotel pool!

Doesn’t it look funny that we are all spread out in our chairs? (Try not to look at the bosom of Mother Goose….)  We sure did a lot of laughing and hugging and kissing over the weekend.  All of us stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites — nine people in two adjoining rooms.  Perfect!

We woke to lovely sunny skies on Saturday and loaded all nine of us into the rented Tahoe.  Our first stop was Patriot’s Point where we toured a real submarine and also the retired aircraft carrier USS Yorktown.

And THAT was very very cool.

Of course, pictures from my little phone can’t really display the magnificence and greatness of an aircraft carrier, so we got a professional photo taken of us as a group.  Some of us look a little funny….

And then we all piled back into the car and drove to Folly Beach where we spent the afternoon playing in the ocean waves.  And soaking up the sun.

Again, it’s so difficult to capture the vast ocean on a tiny phone cam, but omigosh the ocean was so GREAT!  So warm and the waves were perfect for surfing.  Of course, we didn’t have any surfboards, but body surfing is such fun.

The kids went to the movie that night, whilst us older people rested our aching bones….

and on Sunday, we all piled back into the Tahoe and headed for downtown Historic Charleston for a little sightseeing and shopping.

Most shoppers were in the Apple store and the honey store.  We LOVED the honey store — free samples!  After a lovely lunch at a really good Italian restaurant, we had to return Adam and Erik to the base.  Sad to say “goodbye” to them — we all loved our time together so much.  But we made some amazing memories over the weekend, and rumor has it that they’ll be flying home for ten days in late September.  So we can say YAY to that!

Blessings on your day today, wherever love finds you!
